Description

This is a 1-1 replica of the M794 25mm HE dummy round, used in the M242 Bushmaster cannon on the M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Hypothetically, this is accurate enough to be linked into a belt and cycle through the actual cannon (might have trouble extracting though, due to the manufacturing method). I don't think I've ever seen these for sale, so here's your opportunity to print your own display model.

I took my measurements directly from a real M794 dummy round (as pictured), which is meant to replicate an M792 HEI-T (High Explosive Incendiary with Tracer) round for training purposes, such as loading and clearing the cannon. The training round is solid silver (bare metal), but the actual M792 has an OD green shell, and a projectile with an actually quite beautiful yellow-orange-red gradient and a gold tip. The divot in the shell allows the round to interface with the M28 25mm cartridge link, which allows these rounds to be assembled into a quite impressive belt. When I get my hands on one, I'll upload the file so we can create awesome belts together.

This is intended to be a display piece. How you use it is up to you. However, if anyone has access to an M242, and decides (of their own volition and without any warranty of serviceability or functionality) to cycle this model through it, leave a comment! I'm curious.

As usual, this could easily be mistaken for a live round without close inspection. I am not responsible for your decisions, be smart about displaying or carrying this, and remember to BE KIND!

If you like this model, I'd appreciate a like. As usual, if there's a munition I have access to, a printable 3d model is not far behind. I acutely know how much this kind of replica costs (if you can buy them at all), and now that I'm living my dream of actually being able to collect and display rare munitions, this is a passion project to enable you all to get the most accurate possible replicas without spending the “inert tax” or dealing with avoidable inaccuracies.
