This elephant model is designed to hold a fountain pen (or ink syringe) and an ink sample. This allows for easier refilling with less of a chance to knock over the sample vial.

I also like using this model when filling from an ink bottle! I can rest the pen on the trunk of the elephant without having to worry about the pen rolling off the table or the inked nib from staining my table.
