I'm uploading this project to help others repair their trash can clips as well, its a really common issue and i'm glad its been resolved! 

I had to expand the holes a little to fit on my rails (after hammering off the old plastic pieces.) & I added some CA glue to make the bond stronger. 

PETG would be a great material for this.
