Description

Model

Alternative insert for faction miniatures of Heroes of Might & Magic III The Board Game Inferno Expansion

This insert:

  • can speed up game setup;
  • places all faction miniatures in one small space (in factory-provided inserts miniatures of the same faction are located in different places or even boxes)
  • takes less space on the table compared to factory inserts;
  • can be placed vertically on the table taking even less space;
  • has a dedicated place for every faction unit and hero (9 miniatures, places marked with Roman numbers I-VII and H for hero)
  • has an easily removable lid attachable with 3x1 neodymium magnets which you can find in a hobby or hardware store
  • can be stored in the cardboard box of any expansion with up to 3 other inserts for faction miniatures

Printing recommendations

  • Box geometry is optimized for FDM printing with a 0,4mm nozzle and 0,2 layer height
  • Supports not required
  • For best results calibrate the dimensional accuracy of your printer and filament

Assembly

Superglue 4 3x1 neodymium magnets in dedicated slots on the box and lid. (Dont mess up polarity ;)

NOTE:

No manufacturing process is perfect. Your specific miniature base can be a bit under/oversized from the factory. As a result, it may have a loose or tight fit. Fortunately, it can be fixed easily. You can use a small piece of sandpaper or a hobby file to enlarge the insert or put a layer of sticky tape to reduce the insert size. Alternatively, you can measure every miniature base size with digital calipers and modify the step file of the box in the CAD of your choice before printing.

Hello, I print it and everything works fine! thanks a lot for all your stuff!!! one question, now I print all that 7 boxes for the minis. If I store it in the 2 original boxes I got an „empty“ place in that box. Do you plan to create something for that? Maybe something for the town minis or so? Again, thanks a lot for your work! That’s just awesome!!!!

Hello! I printed it to test and most of the minis are fine. But there's few problems II - this unit is a lot smaller than hole, it falls of easily III - holds okay, there's some free space so it wobbles, not a big problem V - smiliar to II, a lot smaller than the slot, it can hold a bit but falls easily H - one of the heroes is also smaller, he fits II slot with no problem tho.

Big thanks for checking. Slots in all inserts have a standard width of 25/50mm + tolerance. Miniatures will inevitably have variations in their base diameter. It is the nature of any manufacturing process. The same miniature may have a base of slightly different sizes in different boxes. My main concern was the ability to fit all miniatures in their slots without (with minimal) interfering with one another.
