Description

A cantilevered mug raiser for your desk

If you're messy like me, I often run out of space on my desk, and lsoe the space to put down my mug! Hence I designed this mug raiser - to free up space so I can store things, or slides papers over etc. under my coffee mug, and to guarantee I always have a place to put my mug back down

Prints well in pla and is sturdy - can hold a pint glass of water. If using longterm probably switching to a stronger material would be wise

Currently designed to take a 8.5cm coaster - easy enough to rescale the model to take different size coasters - or print the simple coaster in the step file.

Modular design with stand, coaster holder and plugs all separate with “ribbed” hole for easy assembly - intention is to create some more variations e.g. a two mug version, different heights, one with integrated storage etc. Step file also includes some legs if you don't want the cantilevered design

Any feedback welcome

This is both amazing and scary haha I can see myself knocking that mug over ... but I still want to give it a try!

haha, yes it does make you a bit nervous to look at. But if it reassures it has been on my desk 3 days so far without accident works well on my corner desk (pictured). where it can't be knocked off on to the floor. I probably wouldn't recommend it if it is close to an edge - but the larger surface area pretty effectively counters the larger moment force - feels sturdier than a mug on its own may make a larger flared base version to mitigate concerns thanks for feedback :)
