Description

I've decided to start solving some problems I have round the house. While learning to use TinkerCad.

Here is my Philips Hue Motion Detector Corner Mount, designed from scratch.

I designed it to be a tight fit holding the detector, to allow for easy battery changes. While allowing for it to sit at a 45 degree angle from all surfaces in a corner. You do get articulated mounts for these, it even comes with it's own magnetic mount. The problem with that is corner mounting is tricky, with what you get or the mounts allow for dust, spiders, etc to gather on or around the sensor body.

I've designed this to allow for screwing in vertically or to either side in a corner. My sensor sits in it, without any additional assistance. However if you find yours isn't secure. i left space to screw in the magnetic mount the sensor comes with and use that to hold it secure. There are also enough flat surface areas close to the wall to allow for foam or Velcro adhesive strips to be used to mount it into the corner. It is versatile enough to sit into a corner, whether its floor, ceiling or anywhere in between.

Please keep in mind, this is designed to a 90 degree fit. Your wall corners may not be square.

Realistically I just wanted to be able to design my own mount, that I can then print in what ever colour I wanted. The images here show me doing it as a faster draft in Blue, I know the filament isn't calibrated and other prints in black were a lot cleaner.

Great design and quality. Thank you! Fit is quite tight but snug - does not need the magnet mount in the back to hold and getting it out is slightly difficult (feature or bug?). Additionaly, the corners are not that filet, making it stand off of our bathroom silicone corners slightly - making this, however, a usage case dependent issue, with some thicker double sided tape being the solution…
