Description

All shapes are at 66.67% size compared to the original design. The caps might need some glue. Personally, I don't use the caps. I heat up a needle with a lighter and pass it across the neck, using a transparent string. Looks great and it's easy.

Description from the original author:

A full set of six unique Christmas tree ornament designs, all designed and optimized to print cleanly and reliably using vase mode, keeping the ornaments light weight, and preventing them from weighing down the branches of your Christmas tree. They also print fairly quickly, easily fill up a full sized tree with just a few days worth of printing.

I printed some using Spidermaker Matte PLA, and they turned out beautifully! Also printed some using MatterHackers Quantum Dual Color PLA, which added a gorgeous color changing effect when the ornaments spin (see video).

I printed all of my ornaments using the standard Vase Mode settings in Prusa Slicer, the only settings I changed were the nozzle temperature since the MatterHackers PLA printed at a higher temp, as well as the extrusion width for both the perimeters and external perimeters. I changed this value from 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm, which created prints with thicker walls, and more overlap between layers at steep angles. This will make the ornaments much less fragile.

After the ornaments are printed, the top can be easily snapped off using a pair of pliers, it should split cleanly along a layer line. Make sure to leave enough of the neck to attach a ¾" ornament cap. I got mine off of Amazon, but they should be easy to find at any craft store as well. Pick up some ornament hooks as well, or get creative with a bit of ribbon or twine.

All 6 ornaments are designed to fit a full size tree, but they can also be sized down to ⅔ scale to fit a mini tree. These mini ornaments will require standard ½" ornament caps.

Caps are a must for the ornaments and they work great.
