Description

Looking for a faster way to add pops of color to your print?

Slide in pieces of filament to add pops of color to this 12 ounce can koozie. The original model contains 6 wave sections, but I have also included a version with only 3 wave sections. Each section requires 6 pieces of filament. By using pieces of filament instead of multiple filaments on your AMS, we save days of print time (2.5 hours vs 3 days+)!

Color Ideas:

  • Rainbow - As pictured
  • Gradient - As pictured
  • Team Colors
  • Country Colors
  • Holiday Colors

Print Settings

This model was specifically designed for a 0.4mm nozzle. I have not tested a larger nozzle, but I suspect that using a larger nozzle may allow the pieces of filament to fall out. The larger nozzle may not be able to get enough material around the front side of the holes that are shown below. This material is the only thing that holds in the pieces of filament.

If you print this model with a larger nozzle, please let me know about your experience so the community can have updated information!

Assembly Instructions

Pieces of 1.75mm filament will be needed. Slide a piece into each of the holes and cut it flush with the top of the koozie. Depending on the version chosen, it will require either 18 or 36 pieces of filament.

Love it! Filling them slowly over time as pieces are cut off rolls. Also using it as a quick filament colour sample reference instead of printing actual swatches for everything. Very cool design, thanks!

Cool idea, and a nice way to use up those left over bits of filament!

This is a cool design, however the can fits very loose and slops around. There is probably 2mm of space on each side. It would be nice if the can would slide in slightly snug. I can't scale smaller because then the filament wouldn't fit inside the grooves:/ Edit: This comment was incorrect based on my own mistake of using the wrong size can. That which I thought was a normal size can was in fact different. The original design fits a soda can perfectly. Sorry for the confusion.

what kind of can are you using? With a normal 12 ounce can, it is a very tight fit for me. I've printed koozies on 3 different printers with the same results.

Hmm. That's odd. I was just using a regular 12oz Coke can and Coors light cans which are the same size. This was printed on my P1S.

Ok, disregard. I was wrong. I thought I had tried a coke can but it was just the beer can, which from that manufacturer was slightly slimmer and taller 🤦. I will edit my comment. My apologies.

printed great. if we could have one without a bottom hole, it’d make a great pencil holder.
