A modular free-standing floor / under desk storage rack for filament spools. Designed to be cheap, stable, not atrociously ugly, and print in ~90 min. Each bracket uses ~50g of filament.
Why use wooden dowels when ½" PVC pipe is $.50/ft? This bracket spaces two PVC pipe sections 165mm apart so the spools are stable and the whole contraption free-stands on a shelf or floor.
Requires:
2 equal sections of ½" PVC pipe (~$0.50/ft here in the USA)
Print 2+ PVC brackets for each stand.
I recommend a bracket per each 1-2' of rack. Your mileage and tolerance for wobble may vary.
I used 3 brackets for a 39" rack and it's very stable. You could probably use less and maybe add a ziptie or something to keep the PVC pipes from separating too far apart.
Directions:
Step 1: Print 2-3 brackets
Step 2: Cut 2 equal length sections of ½" PVC pipe
Step 3: Insert PVC pipe into brackets. Leave 6"-10" on each end.
Step 4: Ask yourself why you needed directions for this because I made it pretty intuitive?
