Description

Disclaimer: This is not an original Apple product apparently. It is just a case for my Apple Pencil 2 that I made a while ago.

You will need 5 neodymium magnets size 8mmx2mm (8mm diameter). Correct size is very important for case snap so please measure the magnets before proceed.

*** Note ***

Depending on the power of the magnets you can have a easily or harder to remove top cover. There is always an easy way to remove the top part. See the video on the end to find out how!!!

I use these magnets from Amazon but any 8mmx2mm magnets should fit.

Bottom part of the case assembly

Print the bottom part of the case. Take on of the magnets and place it around 6cm away from the top of the pencil (see below). Switch the magnet side if required so to be in the right distance.

Put the Pencil inside the case, align it with the magnet and push it so for the magnet to be placed inside the hole.

Press so the magnet placed in the hole of the case
Final placement of the Pencil magnet

Now put a drop of instant glue in the 2 remaining holes of the bottom part as per images below:

*** Very important ***

Place the magnets with the same direction of polarity in the holes. Their poles should be aligned (same poles should point to the top of the case).

Press them enough so to have a small gap between the top of the plastic and the magnet. The gap is just a tiny one but it is very important to be there.

Leave the glue to stick for 10 minutes.

Top part of the case assembly

Place the remaining 2 magnets on the bottom case, on top of the already placed magnets as per images below:

Put just a drop of instant glue on the 2 holes for the magnets in top part of the case as per images:

Align the top case with the bottom as per image:

Press the top part against the bottom part so the magnets fit in place on the top part.

Remove the top part and press with your fingers the 2 magnets again so to take their final place.

Leave the glue to stick for 10 minutes.

Enjoy your magnetic Apple Pencil 2 case!!! See the video below on how to open the case easily :-)

8x2 magnet should fit perfectly. I have mentioned in my description to measure the magnets with a caliber measuring tool and ensure that they are indeed 8mm x 2mm. Can you check it please? https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/draft/387027/2024-01-07_e1dc5e752623c.jpeg?image_process=format,webp

Would it be possible to get the Step file for this so that I can adjust the magnet holes myself to fit my magnets?

Hi there, I cannot share the step file but if you want I can upload files for different size of magnets here. Please keep in mind that only low profile magnets will work (up to 2mm). Thanks

My magnets are exactly 7.99mm x 3mm and I find that don't need any +/- tolerances built into the model... Would you be able to change the 4 main holes to exactly 7.99x3...... and then for the magnet that goes into the pen slot, can you make that exactly 6.1mm x 2mm? 3mm would work for the 4 outside ones... and I don't want the magnet holding the pen to be so strong so the 2mm ones I have should work fine. id really appreciate it.

On the 8x3 design, it looks like the inside magnet size is 6x3?

@Redbeard2 , @user_3833922623 please check the new profile I have uploaded. I don't have the requested size of magnets so I cannot verify that it will fit your case.
