Description

UPDATE: Added a print profile that has stronger hinges after receiving feedback

I was looking for a rugged case that could clip together, meaning you could carry more than one at a time.

after much prototyping i finally came up with a design i was happy with!

Prints nearly fully without supports, the only parts that need supporting are the clips for interlocking the cases, you could try printing without and laying them flat on the bed but the clip tends to delaminate when connected together.

all screws self thread into the model so care needs to be taken when tightening them to ensure they dont strip out.

to assemble the case you will need:

2 x M3 x16 machine screws

2 x M3 x20 machine screws

6 x M3 x 10 machine screws

2 x M3 washers (optional)

Assembly instructions:

Attach the handle to the lid using two M3 x 10 screws, these need to be tight but the handle needs to move freely if it is too tight add washers between the handle and lid.

using four M3 x 10 screws attach the two side clips into the recesses of the lid on either side, ensure the clips are facing flat side up with the holes towards the edges of the case.

Attach the two clasps to the front of the case using M3 x 20 screws, these should be inserted with the heads of the screws facing towards the edges of the case.

Connect the hinges using two M3 x 16 screws once again these should be installed with the screw heads facing the edges of the case.

Finally press fit the gasket into the groove on the lid of the case, this should be a tight fit and might need pressing in with a flat tool ensuring the flat side of the gasket enters the groove first.

Hi. I like the design. Only the hinge parts need to be reinforced. Thank you.

Today I printed with Petg filament in 3 different colors. I tested one of the printouts I received by forcing. I share the fragile part in the attached picture

I printed the stronger hinge model but my hinge still broke. using the default profile here. therefore I think it still requires further reinforcement. just a bit more tweaking. the rest looked great. 👍🏽

Strength Issue:hinge snapped on the stronger hinge model I printed. I think this needs further reinforcement. the rest of it looked great. I think this needs more tweaking.
