Overview of the Universal Spool Holder

Developed to address not having any good existing spool holders, the Universal Spool Holder introduces a design innovation with its incorporation of planetary gears. This feature significantly enhances the stability and feed consistency for 3D printing, aiming to solve common issues related to spool support and filament feeding.

Design Features and Compatibility

A standout feature of the Universal Spool Holder is its universal center pin, which is designed with a locking nut. This makes it compatible with (Polymaker Spools) Polypro and PolyTerra 3KG spools, as well as a variety of off-brand 3KG spools. Although not specifically tested for 5KG spools, its design potentially accommodates them (let me know if they won’t work). Primarily, the holder is optimized for a single 3KG spool or alternatively, can hold two 1KG spools simultaneously.

The use of planetary gears is to improving the feed mechanism, ensuring smooth and consistent spool rotation, thereby eliminating feed issues and facilitating uninterrupted printing.

Printing and Material Recommendations

The holder is engineered to be compatible with nozzle widths ranging from 0.4mm to 0.8mm, ensuring a wide range of 3D printers can produce it. The printing of the center spool may require supports to achieve the best results.

Regarding materials, successful prints have been achieved with PETG-CF, PLA-CF, and ABS. Each material option provides good performance, though it's worth noting that ABS may be prone to warping due to its inherent properties.
