Description

This model was inspired by Moofie on Printables, who created a similar bracket, but for the carbon fibre version of the Tailfin pannier rack. The bracket allows you to attach your Garmin Varia radar to you Tailfin Alloy rack, such that radar has a completely unobstructed veiw behind no matter how you load up your pannier rack.

This is my original design and is available in the public folders of Onshape ( https://cad.onshape.com/documents/d9ed50aca210bfa85409a973/w/cd1fd5a3a79605869efd57d6/e/72170155569a76fc52feada7).

if you want to modify the design for your own needs

NOTE: you either need to buy or  3D print the female part of the Garmin Quarter Turn mount. I already had one so it's not in my design only the faceplate on which it mounts.

In addition to the you will need 6 stainless steel screws

  • 2x M4 Hex socket heads 14mm
  • 2x M3 Hex counter sunk heads 12 mm
  • 2x M3 Hex counter sunk heads 8 mm

TIP: I printed the bracket in BBL Black ABS, with a layer height of 0.2, with 6 wall loops and 55% infill. The bracket is very strong.  Print the bracket part on its side and the faceplate part facing up. You will need some supports

What is the sheet with all the numbered things that look like spacers? Thanks BTW!

Bed Adhesion Issue:Needed a large (8mm) brim and slower printing to work without warping off the bed. tip: PETG worked great as an interface layer for supports on the garmin mount piece.
