Description

As someone new to writing with an oblique dip pen, I have been frustrated that I didn't have an inkwell that worked well with the extra width of the pen. But I have a 3d printer, so I set about solving the problem! This inkwell has a wide opening, but the reservoir is narrow at the bottom so you don't need to fill it with a ton of ink!

The shape of the inkwell is very stable to prevent it from tipping. I printed mine at 25% Octogram Spiral infill; the resulting weight is just about perfect. It stays in place well on the desk. The inkwell is a little larger than some other inkwells, but that is for the wide opening and for the stability needed.

Depending on your print settings, you may want to coat the inside with something to waterproof it, but I have not found that necessary at all.

The low-poly design would look wonderful in a metallic filament – imagine it in copper! It would look like hammered copper! The next one I print will be done this way.

Here are the settings I used:

  • .06 nozzle
  • 25% infill (Octogram spiral)
  • Default perimeter settings
  • Default solid layer settings

Filament:

  • Inland PLA, Turquoise

There is no lid for this – it's not meant to travel. Someday I may create a version for travel, but that's off in the future :)
