Description

This is a remix of ryan.fransen beautiful design of a side spool holder. I make it lighter and faster to print with less material usage.

I also add a roller version to make it smoother.

The bearings are a 8x22x7

You also need 4 new m3 x 20mm screws

 

UPDATE 

Thanks to user suggestions I updated the main body with a longer and thicker arm to reach the center of the spool.

awesome design fits perfect you should add on the description that you need 4 new m3 x 20mm screws cuz the original ones are short. Printed in ABS

i used 4 m3 x 12 mm screws which already stick out a tiny bit more than the original ones (m3 x 4mm). idk, was worried these extra 8 mm might poke into something important. anyways. m3 x 12 mm works perfect (also)

works great and spins smoothly, mines bending down a little so I might replace it with PETG later on but so fair it’s great. printed in Bambu lab: Pla matte ice blue

You can screw the holder one more circle, it will be nice and tight.

Thanks for beautiful design and model! I printed everything with PLA and most of it fits like a charm, except for the thread. At two corners there are vertical dots of wall filament missing and the screw so tight, that I can't get it in without breaking.

Great model but the profile seems to have a weakness near the spool holder, the settings I felt could give up at some point so I added a modifier in the area which made it super strudy. Also I do not know about the fitting orientation, when you push the filament it sometimes moves the ptfe, instead I turned it on the other side, now ti works great!
