A new monster I sculpted for the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure “The Rats in the Cellar”: The tshumbla.
You can find the statblock and the pay-what you want adventure “The Rats in the Cellar” over on Dmsguild.
Tshumblas
If one were to describe tshumblas as a mixture between a quipper and a dog they would be right. Tshumblas are desert-dwelling creatures that live in packs and feed on dangerous prey. They evolved specifically to hunt sandakaths, dangerous sandray creatures with horns sharp as blades. Thus they became extraordinarily resistant to slashing damage.
Tshumblas can quickly dig themselves into holes. Breathing through their hollow horns while they lie in prey, while watching their surroundings with their tremorsense.
For this reason tshumblas are regularly caught and trained as guard dogs. They can inconspicuously guard a house underground while their horns might be mistaken for garden decoration or the remains of a dead tree.
While they are not the fastest learners, they can understand basic commands and their pack mentality makes them quite loyal. Keeping a tshumbla close means to be well protected.
