I modeled the chassis and all the parts for Marui Super Wheelie and Big Bear.
In this publication, you will find the files for all plastic parts for the chassis in both Big Bear and Super Wheelie configuration. You will need original metal parts (axles, shafts, screws, bolts and nuts) to complete the build, as well as a transmission set (it can be replaced by my Marui 2WD set, files available on Cults3D) and wheels.
All the parts are provided as single part if you want to print them using FDM (filament) or Resin. However, I highly suggest to consider printing the parts using online services and nylon PA12 powder based printing process (MJF and SLS processes : the powder based process removes the requirements for supports and the result is so much better, and stronger as well). My chassis is printed in PA12 using MJF and was printed using JLCPCB printing services.
I used the following naming conventions :
ā¢ COM : common part, apply to both Big Bear and Super Wheelie
ā¢ SW : Super Wheelie specific parts
ā¢ BB : Super Wheelie specific parts
ā¢ ENH : Enhancement and mods. In the case you want to implement the shocks mod, you will need to use the specific parts with a suffixe SR for the front arms, as they include hooks for the bottom of the shocks. The shocks I used for the build are Tamiya mini CVA to reproduce the same ranges than original Super Wheelie chassis, but longer shocks could be eventually used as well for the rearā¦ The enhanced chassis is itself allowing larger batteries, few reinforcement, and holes to ease cable management.
ā¢ Files with Cluster in the name are targeted for PA12 MJF or SLS prints and come in cluster (this avoids additional cost for each single part, and also reduce the number of files you will have to print)
The 7.2V chassis is provided in 3 forms : same as original, 3 parts printable file (for small printer bed - should work on an Ender 3), and another version for the 3 parts chassis with added walls to avoid warping (the fine walls are supposed to be removed at the end of the print using a blade)
I did not include the rollers on the Super Wheelie wheelie bar as to me this needs to be replaced by something more stable. You can get the unitary parts printed in FDM or use the alternative version including ball bearings (Printed mine in TPU)
I intend to run my Super Wheelie with a brushless motor and therefore I created a motor cap to suit this purpose. It works with a SkyRC Toro 13.5T motor part of a Toro 50A combo. I provide the step file for the motor cap rather than a STL so it can be modified to suit the motor you will use.
The gearbox has been slightly modified to include ball bearings (MR63ZZ (3x6x2.5)) at both ends of the idle shaft (as this is the weak point of the original gearbox) and also to fit modern motors (I found the current range of Mabuchi motors are having slightly bigger diameter resulting sometimes in broken gearbox during motor insertion, so I modify the gearbox and motor cap to fix this).
The servo mounts and servo saver components are not provided in cluster, as they could be replaced by a lot of alternatives, and that the servo horn need to be modify to adapt the servo spline (reason whi it is supplied in step format)
All parts printed in MJF PA12 were tested to fit their original counterparts (extensive tests results can be found on my threads on different forums such as rc10talk, tamiyabase, rc-vintage) and the chasis was tested with all the original bodyshells (Big Bear, Land Cruiser, CJ-7) with or without the shock mods applied.
All those parts could be used to build a brand new and stronger Super Wheelie and Big Bear as long as you have the metal parts, a transmission set (but this one as a replacement possible with one of my other publications), and a bodyshell (the Big Bear body from tahustvedt should be suitable as well). A Super Wheelie Mitsubishi bodyshell will come soon in a separate publicationā¦
If you are willing to build a custom Big Bear, you may use arms and gearbox from those files with the metal chassis from Factory Works, but this won't work for a Super Wheelie chassis.
Please note that those files canāt be used for creating a prototype for the contest of MontluƧonnaise 2024, as my Super Wheelie is already an entry for this contest
These files are for personal use only.
