Industrial Spool Tower Terrain for table top war gaming

Reuse your empty spools amidst a grim dark battlefield. This modular design allows you to build a 1+ tall tower. Includes files for 5 individual levels. Sized for heroic 32mm scale such as Gee Double U games.

Design suits the Esun 1 piece 1kg plastic spools but the design does include a 4mm thick disc (scale the Z or slice to reduce the heigh) that can be printed to make the tower without spools - if done this way you will need to glue the unit together as the indexing will not be as good.

There are duplicate STL files in the zip, labeled 1 w 3 etc, if you print 1 of each of the files in the zip, you will be able to build the same configuration tower as the painted model picture example. Mix and match for any combo that floats your boat.

Approx. key measurements on the esun spool are:
Outside disc diameter : 200mm
Disc inner dimeter first step down : 85mm
Disc inner dimeter second step down / inner hole : 53mm
Spool middle diameter : 89mm
Spool inner height : 58mm

Some creative slicing and scaling should allow you to fit most spools. If you have a spool in abundance that you would like to have this adapted to, reach out to me and I'll see what I can do.

Designed for FDM printers. No supports needed if you have a decent cooling set up. If cooling is not particularly good, it might be worth adding supports to the top of the bigger doorway arches.

STL's are orientated in the best direction for printing. The spool edge platforms print face down and small detail can be lost if you are getting elephant footing on your prints. So check levels and settings before printing those.

Pics of the printed & painted model were printed on an Ender 5+ with Esun PLA+, 0.6 Nozzle @ 0.2mm layer height, 3 perimeter wall, 2 bottom and top layers with 18% infill. I don't go finer for better speed, save in filament and any small abnormalities in the print just add to the gritty grim dark look. With these settings you will get some small holes or curling in the top layer. I have been dry brushing to show the damage or using sand and glue to do rust or fungus growth.

Increase the infill, top layers and reduce layer height, nozzle size for sharper cleaner prints.
