Conduit Pipe Bender Electrician Tool Model

Conduit Pipe Bender Electrician Tool Model 3D print model

Description

I'm an electrician and this tool is what I would consider, a symbol of our trade. So I wanted to make one. This is not an exact replica. I just kind of eye-balled it off the packaging. Please, share your makes. I'd love to see them. The handle threads into the shoe and the tolerances are fairly tight. So unless you're machine is very precise I'd recommend printing the handle at about 5% smaller. I've had the best luck printing the handle laying on it's side.

*Here are some design updates. You can read if you like to see how it developed, but it's not needed. * _V4.0! -added notch -added star -added 90 degree mark -change geometry to have a recessed area and added deduct text -removed split design -resized handle to be able to thread into shoe easier

V3.5 The files now include a solid one piece bender, if you don't want to deal with threads, the individual bender handle and shoe, as well as the shoe, but in a split form. I found the split form the easiest way to print the shoe but still maintain the threads. I didn't align these parts with meshmixer. I'll leave orientation up to you.

V3.0 After printing it with the large files I decided that splitting the handle in half and making a PLA bender of that size was not ideal. If you want it that big, just resize with Windows 3d Builder, split, add, save. I've made it 50% smaller than the previous version. I think it's better this way. I also used meshmixer to align the parts to the bed better. I put them in the position I think comes out with the nicest prints.

V2.5: Because the bender head was enlarged, so was the handle. Consequently the handle is too big for my printer. It was well over 350mm. So I split it in two and added a cutout of a cube along with the cube, so that you can easily print both pieces and line them up when gluing back together. The original Handle in one piece remains as well.

V2: When modeling this I used the combine tool on the wrong bodies. The end result was the threads were no longer available in the model. So now the handle should be able to thread into the head. I also enlarged the models by a scale of 10. No more Lego size bender anymore. Also added that little bit of flare at the bottom of the handle._
