Where are my horror movie buffs? We've got a double-feature for you today! These are life size 3D printable silhouettes of Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) and Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 horror classic, Psycho.
Why not wait until Halloween to show off this particular set of macabre movie characters in 3D silhouette? Well, I suppose we could have waited but, as Norman said to the beguiling Marion (not long before hacking her to pieces in the shower), "We all go a little mad sometimes..."
And now, you can have your very own slice of cult-classic madness! These chilling wall art decorations of the ultimate Momma's Boy and his not-so-innocent victim will delight and terrify your guests - especially if you hang them in the shower ;) I'm sure some of you will enjoy decorating your horror halls come Fall. As for me, I'll be keeping these creepy silhouettes up all year round.
DIMENSIONS
The Norman Bates and Marion Crane wallart pieces are modeled as life size silhouettes. Their measurements are:
Norman Bates / Anthony Perkins
X = 22.7cm / 8.9in
Y = 25.0cm / 9.8in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
Marion Crane / Janet Leigh
X = 16.6cm / 6.5in
Y = 27.0cm / 10.6in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
At this scale, each silhouette prints as a realistic piece of horror movie fanart. However, not everyone has a printer capable of printing at this size. If your printer bed is too small, you can either scale them down just enough to fit, or print them in two pieces (see below). If you choose to scale them down, I suggest scaling them equally so they're head sizes are compatible when displayed. The largest you can get on a standard-size printer (220x220) is 87% scale. You'll need to rotate Ms. Crane 30 degrees to make it work. Also keep the Z scale at 100% for structural integrity.
The STL files marked Top Half and Bottom Half are each small enough to fit on a standard-size 3D print bed. Print both, and you'll get the life-size effect. You jsut have to line them up when hanging them on the wall. I made sure to split them at their thinnest lines so it's very easy to line up without looking like it's been split. I also rotated both halves of Norman Bates head. Only one half of him requires rotation to fit, but if both aren't rotated equally, the print lines won't match up. So taht's been done for you - don't change it.
The Top/Bottom half measurements are:
Psycho Norman Bates - Top Half
X = 18.0cm / 7.1in
Y = 19.0cm / 7.5in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
Psycho Norman Bates - Bottom Half
X = 15.8cm / 6.2in
Y = 16.5cm / 5.5in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
Psycho Marion Crane - Top Half
X = 16.4cm / 6.5in
Y = 20.5cm / 8.1in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
Psycho Marion Crane - Bottom Half
X = 12.1cm / 4.8in
Y = 13.4cm / 5.3in
Z = 0.2cm / .08in
