We (my family & I) just bought and assembled 3 IKEA BRIMNES Dressers which we really like, except for the handles. So I designed and 3D Printed a simple, clean design replacement handle that can be customized by color and with a little post processing works and looks great. It is easy to grip and open the drawers.
Each are printed at .24mm layer height with a 1.5mm thickness and a 25% infill - kept using the same g-code with different colors. I am sure that these are arbitrary numbers. I printed mine out of PLA but ABS, HIPS, PETG, PC, ... should be functional - not so much for flexibles - unless you want to have some fun =). Each handle uses almost 4.0m of 2.85mm filament or 10.5m of 1.75mm filament.
The translucent colors - red and natural/clear - and a few of the solid colors were coated with XTC-3D epoxy. Picture of translucent handles do not do the real item justice as they look great - shiney and see through with a neat infill pattern showing through.
Went with multiple different colors because we could not agree on 1 color and we think it looks better this way. There are countless variations avaialble - different colors, different infill patterns with translucent and a coating, painting is also a viable option - but I do recommend adding a layer of clear coat after painting since hands will repeatedly touch the handles.
Design is easily transferable to the BRIMNES cabinet door - I just don't have the dimensions. If anyone provides them to me - distance between center of mounting screws in mm, I can easily make a matching handle for the cabinet door.
Please share pictures of your prints.
Printed with handle laying sideways, horizontally to ensure greater strength and prevent a shear plane along a pull direction. All of my handles were printed with supports from bed only and very little support material was laid down - mounting holes did not have support material. Did a little light sanding/filing as needed on the underside to remove any sharp edges. Did not try printing without supports as I printed all of them from the same G-Code and when I created that, forgot to turn off supports.
