Welcome to my fully articulated take on the UA 571-C.
The man-portable automatic perimeter defence system currently deployed by the Colonial Marines as seen in Aliens the movie.
This model includes the control unit and laptop.
This has been designed with easy printing in mind whilst trying to maintain a close to screen accurate design.
I have had to make some sacrifices to the design to allow for easy printing and to make the 3d print stronger.
This has been fully tested at 3 different scales and recommendations are listed below.
All Parts have been uploaded as separate parts and layed out in the correct printing face.
2 files have also been uploaded, 1 of all the parts laid out for easy printing and the other file is a complete model for build reference only and not recomended to print from.
Please note that no link cable is supplied with this model between the control unit and the gun and I used an old USB cable, stripped and wrapped the black cable around a wooden skewer and heated with a hair dryer and let it cool. Of course you could use any cable or tubing to suite and could be left as a straight flexi piece. I have tried PLA but found it too stiff to display correctly. Whatever gauge you choose just drill a matching hole on the unit and the gun.
I will upload some photos of my builds when completed.
I have also added an alternative longer barrel and front leg.
I highly recommend a PEI bed for printing to offer you best bed adhesion.
I would recommend printing the stand parts at 999 outer walls on the standard scale to improve its strength and if you are going to print at 1/6 or 1/4 scale this can easily be reduced to standard 3-5 walls with 15% infill.
Supports to floor only are required at your percentage choice.
Some sanding will be required on the pivot points and do not false the parts together, you want them to slide in nicely and if a little loose the inside of the cup joint can be painted.
No parts should show paint rub as this was built in to the design spec and all parts that do rub are covered.
You will require a nut and bolt to assemble the stand together and can be picked up at any hardware store.
You may need to drill out the small hole that holds the feet to the control unit and will need a piece of wire to attach them β I used paper clips cut down for this but any modelling wire of the correct gauge will work.
For the laptop screens I have included a file to print for the display that I printed on yellow paper and black ink and laminated the displays once I had cut them out and placed them within the laminate sheet.
All parts are scaled for the Neca 7β figure range (1/10th scale)
All parts can be scaled up and below is the recommended scaling but will depend on your calibration.
1/6 scale - Scale all parts to 166% and scale the barrel to be 166% Long (Z) and scale the X and Y to 160%
1/4 scale β Scale all parts to 250% and scale the barrel to be 250% Long (Z) and scale the X and Y to 242%
Bolt Sizes
1/10 = M3X20
1/6 = M5X40
1/4 = M8X50
Please help support me by sharing links to this item page and please remember not to share the file.
Please do not distribute this file around β This includes making minor changes and trying to claim it as yours β a lot of time and effort went in to making this an easy print for you to use.
Please share your makes on here and how you got on with the design.
Thanks for your support and I hope to bring many more designs in the future.
Many Thanks Dawgstar.
