Description

SummaryThis project consists of a Small sized trebuchet with adjustable shooting angle. The structure is based on trusses to increase the object resistance while using less filament.Print SettingsPrinter Brand: RepRapPrinter: MarlinRafts: NoSupports: NoResolution: 0,2Infill: Depends on the part, for the "counterweight" you should use a higher infill and for "haste" lower infill so it does work as expectedNotes: I printed everything on a 600% scale on slic3r, however, you can change it, making smaller or bigger trebuchets. How I Designed ThisIt was modeled using blender.PROJECT: TrebuchetObjectivesThrough this project students will be learn to see energy conservation, tangent angles, angular momentum, ballistics, and Newton's laws of motion in action.AudiencesAnyone studying basic physicsStepsput the "base" in the bottom, " print two trusses from the file "trelica", they should perfectly wel without needing to screw it to the bas, print two counterweights, two "haste", one projectile, two internal locks, two external locks, two locks, two side locks and one support". Screw the support to the base, put each stem in a counterweight, with the hole in the stem facing outwards. before you put both parts together, you should put something (anything that fits and has reasonable weight should do it) and then put the "projectile " on top of this structure ensuring it will stay in the right position. Pick a metal stick and stick it through the hole in the truss, putting the recently mounted structure in the middle with each of the internal locks on each side. superglue both sidelocks outside the trusses and screw the external locks onto the internal locks, with one of the screws on each side goint through a lock. between both locksyou put another metal stick, which will be used to control the angle that the trebuchet will shoot. Make the screws tight enough so that it will not move unless you untighten it a little and you will have great control over it.ResultsBy now you should have a working trebuchet. I suggest you try out different shooting angles and probably also different stuff as counterweight. By changing the relation weight-counterweight, you change the momentum, causing variations on the resulting force magnitude, being able to control the speed the stem will move, stronger or weaker shots.
