Description

Backward Slant Plywood Chair 84 - Donald Judd - MDOS_001

Miniature Design Objects Series

In the early 70’s, the artist Donald Judd began to design furniture for his studio in New York.

By 1984, Judd had already designed a wide range of wooden furniture including beds, desks, benches, chairs, and shelves.

As a designer myself, I am attracted to the simple yet thoughtful lines in Judd’s art, which are visible in his furniture designs as well.

The Backward Slant Plywood Chair 84 is the perfect first chair/design object to kick off this series.

An object where the relation between form and volume is clearly visible, an object which is (in a smaller scale) easy to print, no support or brims necessary.

The Miniature Design Object Series is a series which, as the name of this series indicate, consist of a variety of different miniature design objects, ranging from chairs and stools to tables and accessories.

These models are all drawn in 3D by myself, from plans and drawings found on the internet and/or books.

This series is a bigger project to further develop my CAD, render and 3D-print skills.

Printed on a Bambulab A1 Mini in black and white Bambu PLA Basic.

Model and renders made in Autodesk Fusion 360.
