Description

I've recently been learning to use Fashion360 software to create gears. I watched many videos and realized that the center distances of spur gears and helical gears with the same module are actually different. Initially, I made many single sets of gears for testing. Then, I created a modular gear tray for my child to play with, I have tested my screw fasteners and the clearance of gear rotation with A1 series, P1 series, and X1 series printers WITH PLA and PETG , so you can print with confidence without worrying about compensating for the X and Y hole dimensions. The only thing to note is that the screws might need to be stronger( better 100% fill). Otherwise, just set your layer height to 0.2 mm and use a 10% helical fill.and I hope you will like it too.

——If you are also studying gears, I can provide some of my gear parameters and some methods for calculating center distances.

——In my model, the distance between each hole on the chassis is ten millimeters.

——The helix angle of the double helical gear I designed is 45 degrees, and it uses normal parameters.

——The module of both the spur gears and the double helical gears I designed is 1.

——If two spur gears want to mesh correctly, the distance between them is =Module * ( teeth number of gear1 + teeth number of gear2)/ 2 (Module= 1 , in this model)

——If two helical gear want to mesh correctly, the distance between them is Module ( teeth number of gear1 + teeth number of gear2)/ (2 * cosβ ) “ (Module= 1 , β = 45 in this model)

I set the helix angle at 45 degrees, also to facilitate the assembly of gears in the holes of a matrix.

It's very interesting that straight and helical gears, even with the same number of teeth, have different center distances.

I'm just a beginner, but I hope this helps others who are learning as well. You can try it out; I hope you like it.
