Overview

Our house is a major renovation project, so when we first moved in we had cut a temporary hole in the wall to the laundry room so the cats could go in and out of there while the door was closed, however I wasn't a big fan of having to see a random hole in the wall everyday, so I decided to model a cat door that would match the modern gothic/Halloween theme of the house and ended up basing the model off of the fireplace from Beetlejuice. 

Printing

I winded up printing this on a Anet A8 Plus, however each of the pieces should be able to fit onto the P1, and X1 build plates. None of the parts require supports, and I would recommend printing with 15-20% infill. 

Post Processing 

This is the real time consuming part, I personally started off by super gluing each of the pieces together that way everything stayed in place while I plastic welded everything afterwords. After gluing and welding, I spent some time sanding things somewhat smooth, it doesn't need to be perfect because we'll be using a textured spray paint which will help hide the layer lines. Next I would start off with spraying 1-2 coats of spray on primer, then spray on a coat of gray paint so there is no white specs between the texture (I made the mistake of not doing this, hence the white specks in the picture), and finally spray a coat or two of stone spray paint, this adds the texture that makes it look rough. Once that final coat drys, you are ready to hang up the door. You can just use some double sided tape to hold the door onto the wall, however at some point in the future I would like to design a better mounting mechanism.

Future Plans

Whenever I get around to renovating the laundry room I plan to design the other end to this door, as well as a insert for the inside of the doors, but for now this is a lot better than just having a random hole in the wall. I hope y'all enjoy the model, and thanks for reading through this!
