Description

I made these peg-style shelf supports to replace the crappy ones that came with my kitchen cabinets that kept breaking. If your shelving cabinets have pre-drilled holes like mine, these are for you!

I saw many other designs around for this type of support but they all used printed plastic pegs, which I did not like because of their lack of strength. I prefer the load-bearing part on a heavily loaded shelf to be metal if possible, as it is much less likely to break or creep over time.

I designed these to use common M3 screws for this purpose, which fit great in the pre-drilled holes in my cabinets. If you need a different size screw, i've included the Fusion360 and STEP files here for you to customize. The Fusion360 file is mostly parametric too, to make this easy.

Printing

Printed with the flat face on the bed, these should be an easy print. I printed at 0.16 mm height in PETG, but most filament should do here, and 0.2 mm height should also be fine. Print with a bunch of walls for strength if you're paranoid like me. I used ~8-10.

Assembly

Insert an M3 cap or button-head screw, as shown in the pictures. The scew hole is snug on purpose, and will probably require you to simply turn the screw to cut M3 threads into the plastic as part of assembly. In my cabinets I found that M3x14 or M3x16 worked best. If you only have shorter screws available, you can adjust the model depth easily to accommodate whatever length you like, although I would make sure that enough of the screw is in the plastic to support the shelf.
