*A Halligan bar, also known as a Halligan tool or Pro-Bar, is a tool used by firefighters for forcible entry and other tasks. It has been a key part of a firefighter's toolkit since the 1940s. The bar is named after Hugh Halligan, a First Deputy Chief of the New York Fire Department, and was named in 1948.
