Description

Hi everybody!

Here's my contribution to the plethora of Buttons & Bugs inserts. This insert comes with just two parts which take less than 17g to print: a tray for condition markers/enemy tokens and the die, and a small container for the six miniatures to go. The intent is to keep the sleeved cards and dials in the box sideways (allowing access à la file-cabinet, where theoretically you can access any card without lifting up a section of an insert), with the two inserts resting on top, where you can take them out and set them to the side for your setup. This way, the tokens and minis have their own trays for easy access, and the box is kept next to the playing space to access cards and dials between rounds.

Why did I design this?

I really wanted to sleeve the cards. since mine (like others) came already warped and I didn't want them to get worse when playing. However, I could not find an insert that was both for sleeved cards AND had no box lift. The dimensions of the box leave very small margins for inserts. There are a number of gorgeous ones here on Makerworld for non-sleeved cards, I printed https://makerworld.com/en/models/397654 by strongindustries and attempted to make it work for sleeved cards, but ran into the space issue. I took all the inserts out and looked in the box at the sleeved cards and the minis/tokens in baggies, and thought that it honestly didn't look too bad. So I took inspiration from strongindustries' mini storage, then designed a simple tray for the conditions and cubes.

I'm also a recovering chronic board game insert printer, having printed many 500g+ inserts for games I never wound up playing anyway. This is hopefully the first in my line of functional minimalist board game inserts. My design philosophy is to minimise setup time and filament use while maximising QOL.
