Description

I had been using Langosh’s wrist rest risers from Thingiverse for a while, but I wanted a way to securely attach it to my keyboard without having to adjust it every time I moved the keyboard. That’s when I came across the UHK (Ultimate Hacking Keyboard) palm rest attachment, which inspired me to create a similar design for the ErgoDox  EZ

Using cryptojone’s STL model of the keyboard case, I combined the two designs into a new 3D-printable solution. While this may not be a perfect design (it’s only my second attempt at a 3d model), it works well enough for my needs.

Here are the key features of my design:

  1. Wrist Rest Extension: Connects to the base of the ErgoDox EZ. If you don’t use tenting, you can print only the extension.
  2. Wedge for Tilting: The wedge screws to the bottom of the extension with M3 screws, providing additional support for tilting. I used heat inserts (4.2 diameter) on the wedge.
  3. Attachment Options:
    • Heat Sink Holes: You can add heat sink holes to the bottom of the case and attach the wrist rest extension using these (not yet printed or tested).
    • Replace Screws: Alternatively, replace the M2.5 screws on the lower half of the ErgoDox EZ case with 3 x M2.5 x 16mm screws. Attach the extension along with the case to the top half of the case.

Feel free to modify the Fusion file to adjust the angle or make it parametric if needed. Happy printing! 🖨️🔧
