Description

UPDATE 8 Feb 2024:

I have uploaded alternative profiles for this print, a ‘Non-Arachne Walls’ profile for those of you who have issues slicing on the normal profile, as well as a ‘Thick Base’ profile for those of you who want a thicker base for the print. the Thick Base profile os 0.4mm thicker and has 2 walls for the X-Wing.

Adding to my Star Wars HueForge Hybrids, here's the iconic scene of the trench run through the Death Star! This print is completely Print-In-Place :) All necessary settings have been applied in the 3MF file, if you're using Bambu Studio/Bambu slicer. If you are not using either, please download the STL and follow the instructions below very carefully.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  1. If you are having issues slicing the main profile, please try the ‘Non-Arachne Walls (Alternative)’ profile. I have not had any issues slicing but some have reported Bambu Slicer stalling at 15%. I am using Bambu Studio 1.8.4.51 and have no issues, so if you do, maybe update the slicer, or try the alternative print profile!
  2. Use a layer height modifier in the slicer to achieve these split settings
  3. The tops of the X-Wing's spindles (35mm and above) are really thin and skinny. Please ensure your settings have been adjusted for this. I slowed down speed, and increased layer time within my filament settings to ensure the printer can handle the skinny print.
  4. As with all HueForge prints, an AMS is NOT needed, but highly recommended. If you don't have an AMS, just manually insert a pause at the layers below, and swap out your filament spools to the right colour :)
  5. IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE THICK BASE PROFILE, PLEASE USE THE THICK BASE PRINT INSTRUCTIONS.

Print Instructions (NOT THICK BASE):

For the HueForge part (0mm - 2.12mm)

Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.2mm

For the X-Wing (2.12mm - 110mm)

Print at 5% infill (Gyroid), with a layer height of 0.16mm I used 2 walls, 3 surfaces, and 3 bottoms.

Filaments Used:

  • PLA Kingroon Black Transmission Distance: 0.4
  • PLA+ eSun Grey Transmission Distance: 1.4
  • PLA Overture Light Grey Transmission Distance: 1.6 (also for the X Wing!)
  • PLA Default White Transmission Distance: 5
  • PLA BambuLab Basic BambuLab Green Transmission Distance: 8

Swap Instructions:

  • Start with Black
  • At layer #5 (0.52mm) swap to Grey
  • At layer #10 (0.92mm) swap to Light Grey
  • At layer #15(1.32mm) swap to White
  • At layer #16 (1.4mm) swap to BambuLab Green
  • At layer #24 (2.04mm) swap to Light Grey for the rest (The X Wing!)

Print Instructions (FOR THICK BASE):
For the HueForge part (0mm - 2.52mm)
Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.2mm

For the XWing (2.52mm - 110mm)
Print at 5% infill (Gyroid), with a layer height of 0.16mm
I used 2 walls, 3 surfaces, amd 3 bottoms.

Filaments Used:
- PLA Kingroon Black Transmission Distance: 0.4
- PLA+ eSun Grey Transmission Distance: 1.4
- PLA Overture Light Grey Transmission Distance: 1.6 (also for the X Wing!)
- PLA Default White Transmission Distance: 5
- PLA BambuLab Basic BambuLab Green Transmission Distance: 8

Swap Instructions:
- Start with Black
- At layer #5 (0.92mm) swap to Grey
- At layer #10 (1.32mm) swap to Light Grey
- At layer #15(1.72mm) swap to White
- At layer #16 (1.8mm) swap to BambuLab Green

Fantastic as always. Switched the Grey to blue Grey and the green to a red, as i had the scene with "evil" lasers in mind. Now printing the frame.

looks awesome! about to do one. The 'evil' lasers in Star Wars were green. Weird right? especially since sith is red sabers, jedi commonly use green sabers though. But for some reason the ships are reverse.

This is a REALLY ambitious model. Hands down one of the coolest thigns I have ever printed. I used dual green/yellow silk instead of the green and I think it makde them look more like lasers (I swapped out the dark gray with a pause during printing). My two suggesions are to #1 thicken the base by adding more initial layers (it's too thin as is) and #2 use at least 2 walls as you can see I had gaps in my x-wing. I can fix the latter myself, but not sure how to make the black base plate thicker. This is an amazing model and I hope you do more like this.

Thank you so much for the rating and the feedback! I can absolutely make the base thicker - and will upload a profile for it too. I appreciate it! I do have others like this if you haven't already had a look, a millenium falcon, TIE fighter and a death star one :)

I see you do have other models like this, so that's awesome. I don't see a reference of for the frame in this listing that I see other models from you, so is it possible that this is so thin because it is designed to work in a frame? This is the frame I see you reference in other models: https://makerworld.com/en/models/90485#profileId-146370. Does that one apply to this print? I ask because the 200x200 frame, which I believe would be required for this model, takes over 8 hours to print and I don't want to waste the time and filament just to find out it's not the right one (and 8+ hours seems excessive for a frame for a print that took 5). Thanks again!

Awesome model! Broken laser was totally my fault trying to clean up slight stringing, wanted to slap myself.

Love this file. my grey is a bit damp so the background isn’t too great but that’s my fault, not the design.
