This is my take on building a LED wall installation.
What you need:
- your desired number of WS2812B (5V) LED chain
- a capable LED controller (my advice is a Node MCU with WLED flashed)
- M3 screws and nuts
- some translucid PLA
How to print:
- The single crystal should be printed in vase mode
- the multiple crystals need to be printed without infill, 1 or two outer layers and with a print blocker at the place where the LED attaches from below
- use a translucid material for best effect
- The base does not need support, just print as it is
- if you have a multi material printer you can also print the crystal and the base in one part so you dont need to glue them later, but at the cost of some support for the base
How to assemble:
- Print your desired pieces bases and screw them together with screws and nuts
- attach the LEDs
- add glue to the top of the bases
- glue the crystals onto the base
- in that order you make sure the crystals are alligned well
The filaments i used:
- Filamentums Crystal Clear PLA in Icelandic Blue
- Anycubic Black PLA
In the future i want to design a back piece as well, for easier attachement to walls etc. So far i build the backplate out of wood.
