3D model description

The TARDIS based on the 2003 Scream of the Shalka seris with Richard E. Grant as the Ninth Doctor. The original animation model by Cosgrove Hall was likely based on the proportions of the props used in the 1996 movie's TARDIS. But, being animated, it had a simpler handle design and the lettering from the "FREE FOR THE USE OF PUBLIC..." sign omitted.

I've designed this as a wargames miniature, so the detail is pleasingly chunky to paint – the windows can be easily picked out with a quick wash, and the "POLICE (PUBLIC CALL) BOX" lettering stands out to simply need an overbrush with white to make it pop out.

3D printing settings

I've done five rounds of testing on this, with a diagonally split and separate roof versions. In the end I've executed it as a single piece as the details on the sides are open enough to cleanly remove (unlike the Daleks), and the solid squareness with four-way symmetry is important to the design, so you don't really want any assembly to complicate that.
