Description

Summary

After trying other Anet A3 fan rings I decides to create my own design due to I was not pleased with the ones I did print and tried. These other did not fit my printer as the ring was not sitting horizontally flat and not distributing the airflow that even across the ring. One was generating a whistling sound that was killing my ears and so on...

I'm very pleased with the result of this fan ring and I hope anyone else could enjoy a silent-ish and perfectly horizontal fan ring for the Anet A3S printer.

The fan ring was designed for the Anet A3S printer manufactured in Marsh 2017.

This was a great project to learn the Fusion 360 software as well learning to design for 3D printing. This was my absolute first design.

Enjoy! :-D

How I Designed This

Air flow

Well, one of the reasons I felt the need to design my own fan ring was the lack of even air flow with other rings I have tried out.

This ring has, well in my own opinion, a more even air flow across the ring then other rings I have tried out. This is due to the two barriers in the air flow entrance to the actual ring. These will direct the air flow to flow more in line with the ring shape rather then just hitting the first nozzle holes and let the access air to spread out into the ring. This did give that the majority of the air did flow through the three nozzle holes closes to the entry point to the ring rather then spreading more evenly across the ring. Please see the attached image for where these barriers are located.

I also angled the nozzle holes to target the air flow just below the extruder nozzle tip to provide the best cooling of the filament as quickly as possible after it have been passed through the extruder nozzle.

The shape of the ring nozzle holes has been design to prevent noise.
