Description

A remix of the Reusable Hex spool, added elongated holes on the edge to not bend the filament while securing the end.

08.12.23

Uploaded a version 2 with even longer holes to prevent kinking of the filament when securing for storage.

The holes are offset on each side so you always have a place to secure the filament.

Have not used this yet, but printed in ABS. Shims are different color for visibility. Prints with no issues and fits together well, Did have to use a brim for the shims as they fell over on the first try.

not a fan. I find it too weak where the honeycombs join the centre and the locking mechanism is a bit tight and rough. admittedly I printed in pla, whereas the design says they printed in asa so perhaps this makes all the difference.

Thank you for the feedback! I used just basic generic PLA for mine, and do not have these problems. The walls are not as stiff as the original printable spool from Bambulab, but it is sufficient enough for most uses. The weaker walls is a little sacrifice to use less filament and reduce print time. Please feel free to upload a print profile or a remix to combat this issue! I am trying some other slicer settings as we speak, so I will upload them if they seem better!

I found around the core to be quite brittle, but perhaps it was my filament or its meant to be petg.

Thank you for the feedback! It seems others have the same impression, I guess its just the nature of the design. I cant say I notice any excessive weakness in the core myself, printed in generic PLA. Please feel free to try PETG or other materials, or upload a print profile or a remix! I think I will try PETG for comparison, and upload the profile if it is better than PLA.

well designed print with PetG if you want to dry your filament, PLA does not last when drying filament
