Created a Phoniebox for my 2 year old kid for listening to music.

Program the box to play a song, webradio, podcast or spotify after your liking. Just scan a RFID chip and get the box to play whatever you like.

For better sound quality you could add a rpi hifiberry or usb soundcard but i think its good enough without for the kids.
