Description

As I'm still quite new to 3D Printing and what more important I have to print in my living room I'm still sitting on PLA exclusive prints. But I understand and like most of us time is coming to go further and try materials like ABS, ASA, TPU. What is holding me down is …. it's a living room and I want to minimize all Toxic Fumes as much as possible. So before I have ordered first rolls of ABS and ASA I made a solution. Not completely sure will it be absolutely effective but my tests show airflow being pushed outside. So it definitely works. But if chamber fan is not strong enough, probably it is good Idea to put an extra inline fan, something like this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Extractor-Circulation-Diffuser-Ventilation-Basement/dp/B0BJVLSYWM/ref=asc_df_B0BJVLSYWM/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=651201579993&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4432820991487142921&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9040155&hvtargid=pla-1983471391172&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpompBhDZARIsAFD_Fp8-GUt3ThY3IkrlsL4aXsvpdmXmrFZ4xKFJRMPbfHI0FZz38hja4UIaAmkDEALw_wcB&th=1

Anyway I will update some testing info later!

So about model, or better to say a model SET:

This model SET includes 4 Separate Models.
1. Backplate Hose Mount with Straight Exit
2. Backplate Hose Mount with Sideways Exit (to the Top Right and Down Left side of the Printer) *

3. Backplate Hose Mount with Sideways Exit (to the Top Left and Down Right side of the Printer) *

4. Wall, Window, Vent exit e.t.c. Hose Mount

* Be aware to take right one for You if you going to print 2. or 3.

Backplate Hose Mount have 4 holes for 12x3mm magnets. Just use some glue push in. But I found that those magnets not strong enough to hold Mount with the hose in place. Mount tends to slide on backplate. This is why I have added 4x 2mm holes on each version of mount. Those holes corresponds 3 holes around the air exit mesh on backplate. Those holes are too small for M3 srews and too big for M2, at least I couldn't get M3 screws to get in. So my solution is: USE a magnets and put three M2x12 or even better m2*16 crews in corresponding 3 Holes depending on which side you use mounts 2. or 3. Straight mount is straight forward. Those M2 screws just slide in into backplate holes and that's more than enough (in cooperation with magnets) to hold that mount in place like a solid brick.

Made this for 50mm flexible hose as I had one and I think it is more than enough for the job. I saw some solutions with 70mm or even 100mm hose, but that's a way overkill for that chamber fan in my opinion.

I have added a technical sheet with some basic parameters so You can use if you want. And if You have any question, suggestion or maybe going to use this project and want something specific in your case give me a shout and we can try sort this out for ya :)

Oh Yes You can Buy me a coffee if You feel good doing so :) (And very big Thank You For interest in my work)

I see. that link is more for reference purpose. Actually as much as I have tested now, I don't think that fan is necessary. Maybe if only you have a quite long hose. I Have around 3m long and going up halfway and it looks blowing out good enough with stock fan. Speaking of Amazon sites, yeh, there can be confusion if you use another one. Here is link to US Amazon with the same thing, Maybe even better as this is with speed control: https://www.amazon.com/Ventilation-Greenhouse-Bathroom-Basement-Kitchen/dp/B0B2LTK5FT/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2PMR4UR4ZJFTY&keywords=Small+Duct+Fan+2+Inch+Inline+Extractor&qid=1699576241&sprefix=small+duct+fan+2+inch+inline+extractor+%2Caps%2C407&sr=8-7 Only one more point. I'm not completely sure about this, but as I understand if extraction is enough then adding extra fan is not a very good idea as this can affect temperature. And we don't need temperature drop inside enclosure. So this is really option for those who are not getting fume extraction enough. Hope this helps :)
