I bring a replica of the 3D Wilson NBA airless ball with its peculiar design with a honeycomb structure that does not need to be inflated, no valves and does not deflate.

This version is not an exact replica. I modeled it from scratch, taking inspiration from the original and making modifications that I considered pertinent.

The diameter is 25 cm you can scale it if you wish.

The best rebound results have been with PLA Flex as you can see in the gif in this post. You can test it with TPE or TPC, it bounces more than TPU.

My Other Airless Models:

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:
I have already seen many impressions of my NBA Airless Ball's prototype and I can list the 3 filaments with the best results in rebound and resistance:

  1. FLASHFORGE Flexible PLA

  2. ATARAXIA ART Flexible PLA

  3. SaintSmart GT-3 High Flowability Flexible PLA Filament

  4. Spectrum PLA

  5. Spool3DCA PLA Flex

  6. Super PLA + Overture

Super PLA+ by Overture excels in printing smaller ball versions, avoiding fracture risks. Its excellent bounce makes it perfect for smaller models, offering enhanced durability and fun. In larger models, it may encounter strength issues, only print small.

i printed this and the other one in a few filaments. so far none bounce perfect, but i am hopeful that my latest try works well. it is called artraxia flexiple pla from amazon. it says shore hardness of 89a. i tried dremel fpla and some tpu and some tpe too. the dremel fpla or tpe bounce the best thus far.

thr small one didnt print great with a .4 nozzle. i tweaked the print profile and am trying the full size ball but using my .8 nozzle. the roll said .6 was recommended for the material. hopefully it works out good but i already wish i could change my slicer settings more. i miss being able to set the flow rate on the fly like when using octoprint. much of the quality issues i see in this curremt print which will be done in around 8 hours... this artarxia struggles to print this with very much speed.

Did that filament work with your Bambu Printer? I know sometimes they can be picky with which filament to use.

Amazing design. I changed the print setting a bit and have gotten 6 good bounces out of it without breaking. Printed with Overture Super Pla+
