Description

A screwdriver to store and use Leatherman's bits!

I used to carry a whole leatherman bit kit set but found myself reaching for the same few bits over and over. Additionally, I normally keep a volty on my multi-tool and would need to take that out to use a bit. So I decided to make a low profile screw driver that could store a decent amount of bits and use them without taking my volty out! I carved a little spot out in the head for a small magnet for bit and screw retention. I also added some ribbing on the sides and end cap for extra grip where it's most needed.

Things needed for assembly:

  • Superglue/CA Glue
  • 1x 8x2mm magnet
  • Leatherman bits (https://www.leatherman.com/bit-kit-replacement-1-931027.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwr6wBhBcEiwAfMEQs_Oi9oPkeApl30OSj1aWq8xwgm02ob3ypKqAie7YdrON86ZFlkRfKBoC-zUQAvD_BwE)

Assembly is pretty straight forward, bur for visual assistanve please see the animation in the photo carousel! For the smoothest feel PETG's flexibility is the best, but I've tested printing all parts with PLA and it works! Just needs a little more break-in use. For my daily carry I printed the bit storage, end cap, and bit holder in PETG and then matte blue PLA for the housing.

Hope others find this as useful as I do! Cheers~

Hi, awesome creation! How thick are your bits? I have a Leatherman Wave with the bits and was looking forward to this but my bits are to thick for the holder which make it "swell" so it doesn't fit in the handle... Bit thickness 3,15mm. I have printed the handle in PLA and the rest in PETG. Using Prusa slicer and Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro with Klipper

Oh that's interesting to hear. I have the same setup, PLA handle and PETG internals and don't have an issue. My bits are a mixture of new bits from the bit kit set, and a couple old bits from my wave. The only thing I can think of is that I did have a little bit of a breaking period where it was a little hard to get in and out. But after a few uses it got a lot smoother.
