Description

Please consider casting your Boost token if this model/design helps you, and don't forget to press the like button. Many thanks!

Makerworld has significantly reduced the download/print points awarded to designers. Instead, they have introduced the "Boost" token, which you can apply to models that may not be the most popular (already gaining points from downloads and prints), but are useful or meaningful to you in general. This supports and encourages us, the "losers" (those not focusing on popular themes like Star Wars, car keychains, countless airless balls, etc.), to create more useful or niche designs.

Tube holders/racks are among the most common and abundant items in a laboratory environment. Reaction tubes come in different sizes and require specific holders. Here, I present racks/stands/holders to suit the most common applications in a biological laboratory in the format of Kit Cards. These designs feature materials friendly yet rigid and stable for assembly, easy printing & assembly, and have been tested in actual biomedical labs.

This page holds the model for a 6 x 10 microcentrifuge tube rack with numbering for columns and alphabets for rows. Supports were built into the bottom panel to reduce flex when closing the microcentrifuge tubes on the rack. It comes with two print profiles; both Part A and Part B have to be printed for complete assembly.

These models are published separately to:

1. Avoid clutter
2. Facilitate easy searching for the correct items
3. Allow convenient potential updates and troubleshooting.

After all, laboratory vessels come in different sizes and variations, so minor adjustments might be needed for individual cases. Just let me know in the comments, and I will try to resolve them.

Background:

Microcentrifuge tubes (Eppendorf tubes) are small plastic tubes commonly used in laboratory settings for holding and centrifuging small volumes of liquids. They are typically made of polypropylene and come in various sizes, ranging from 0.5 mL to 2.0 mL. Eppendorf tubes are designed with conical bottoms to facilitate easy pelleting of samples during centrifugation. They often feature snap-cap or screw-cap closures to securely seal the tubes and prevent leakage. Eppendorf tubes are widely used in molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology laboratories for a variety of applications, including sample storage, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and protein purification.

Assembly:
Simply slot the support pillars into the panels. It should be easier than assembling IKEA furniture, and anyone smart enough to be in a lab should have no problem assembling them.
