Description

A couple of months ago, I purchased a Waveshare 10.4" Quantum Dot Capacitive Display (1600x720) - WAV-24647 from The PiHut for my new Raspberry Pi5 8GB with the optional Active Cooler for Raspberry Pi5 fitted. I had just printed a stunning case for the Pi5 from Maker World (https://makerworld.com/en/models/110398#profileId-118003) which fitted perfectly and wanted something to protect that back of this stunning new display. The thin glass seems reasonably solid, but the electronics on the back, plus the cables were vulnerable. The display uses full sized HDMI and has two USB C power connectors - one to power the display and one to enable the capacitive touch. It also has a power button, an audio out, a speaker out and a cable connected button ribbon which allows you to control all the display menus without using the Pi5. I was staggered by the quality of this display and as it's so wide you can almost have two standard HD (720 rather than 1080) ‘windows’ at 60hz next to each other which means it is application friendly. It cost just over £100.

Before Christmas, I also started in the 3D printing world and purchased a Bambu X1 Carbon AMS which I printed the above Raspberry Pi5 case with. No cases exist (that I could find) and the display is a just over the 256x256 print bed of the X1 Carbon, so I could either build two connecting halves for the whole display or just build a case back to cover the electronics. I installed Autocad Fusion 360 and did my first design :-) The case screws through the back into the outer corner mounts on the electronics board using 4x M2.5 hex screws.

I will probably make a stand with legs that attach to the case, but it works beautifully the way it is now. Any thoughts for improvement, do drop me a message.
