Description

🎵Fast and simple build of a working Kalimba with 17 keys.🎵

In addition to the printed parts, you only need a kalimba key set like this:

De: Kalimba Set

Us: Kalimba Set

I also added a version where an amplifier can be added, the part is included in the raw files.

How to build:

Use filament with good layer adhesion, the keys will add some tension to the top part, so no silk filament.

Glue the two bridges to the top part and screw the keybar on loosely.

Slide in the keys, but leave out the ones that cover the screws.

Now screw the keybar on tightly.

Push the left-out keys in afterward, the keys need to be bent into place a little bit. I used a flat screwdriver for it, and it worked pretty well.

When you are finished, connect the bottom and top part together.

To create a well-resonating body, the two parts need to be joined permanently using some CA glue.

Lastly, you need to tune the Kalimba.

You can find many tutorials online on how to do this with a smartphone app.

This is very important to make the Kalimba sound good, don't skip it.

Happy playing!
