Description

what.

Where to put the security chain of your AXA frame lock while riding? I don't like to put it on my frame or those official saddle-bags. Also, I need the connector on the lock for my bag. I wanted to be able to strap it around me, but with only the bolt on one end I found that challenging till I remembered I own a 3D printer.

This Very simple adapter attaches to the large ring of your AXA chain with a shackle, carabiner or similar. I prefer a shackle because it's slimmer and not as noticeable, as I leave this adapter on at all times.

You just plug it in - to remove, you just have to firmly push down the ripped part of the piece and unplug the chain :)
It won't withstand a massive amount of pull-force.

compatibility.

I designed this adapter around RLC (Plus) chains from AXA; as my AXA Defender is meant to also be compatible with the DPI chains and all plug-in cables, I'd guess it's compatible with those as well. I don't know if ULC (Pro) chains will work.
If you have one of those chains/plug-in cables and care to test compatibility, please leave a comment :)

BOM. Things you need.

Unsurprisingly, you you need a shackle for the shackle version. Here the compatible ones are simply called "6mm", they have an opening of roughly 13mm. I replaced the sharp-cornered thumbscrew-locker with a common M6 screw.
For the ring version, a large enough carabiner (printed or from metal) will work fine. It's more of the universal solution.

printing advice.

Because of the print-in-place-mechanism, a slightly springy material like PETG is highly recommended; PLA would be too brittle and break very fast. Prefer more perimeters over more infill, to get it nice and springy.
The only thing that needs support is the shackle version for the ascended ring-part (only from build plate), anything else must not be printed with support, especially not inside! The bridging inside won't look nice because of the round interior, I found that this is not an issue though.

The multi-colour is just to highlight the mechanism, just delete if you don't want it.
