3D model description

This is a 3D-printable model kit inspired by an interceptor from the times of the cold war.

The bigger parts are designed for vase mode printing. Only the nozzle and the stand are printed in standard mode.

The size of the complete model is ca. 40cm x 24cm.
The corresponding approximate scale is around 1/48

The assembly of the model requires glue.
The finish was done with acrylic paint.

Some important remarks:
The assembly of the model is very easy due to the low amount of parts. But the printing is rather challenging despite the vase mode.
Especially the rear part that consists of the rear fuselage, the wings, and the fin is comparably large (24cm x 24cm x 13cm), so you need an appropriate build volume (25cm x 20cm x 20cm worked well with the geometry oriented diagonally).
The model is specifically designed for a 0.4mm nozzle, therefore a downscaling will probably not work.
In order to avoid warping of the wings, reinforcements are integrated. You have to choose an appropriate printing speed (the slower the better) and temperature (depends on the filament) to ensure a proper attachment of the upper skin and to avoid bulges in the region of the reinforcements. A good build plate adhesion is mandatory.

3D printing settings

The model on the photos was printed of grey PLA filament from EONO on a Creality Ender 3.

Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm
Layer height for all parts: 0.2mm

Printing modes:
- Vase mode (spiralized outer contour) for: front part, rear part, intakes
- Standard mode with 20% infill for: nozzle, stand 1, stand 2
