A 3D printable robust and durable Expandable RC Model Aircraft Caddy/Stand sized at 580mm X 160 mm (~22” X 6.3”), which can be expand to 690 mm X 160 mm (~27” X 6.3”) in 20mm (~3/4”) increments.
It is designed to hold a mid-size aircraft model in the shop, during transport and at the field. The caddy secures the model while assembling and making adjustments. It helps to keep the model on a table, both in the shop and at the field.
The caddy's base features two pockets to hold tools and parts, along with different size/shape legs to better fit different aircraft model contours. The legs include tie-down openings to secure the model to the stand using light bungy cords, elastics, sting, etc.
The parts can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive larger size 3D Printer with a build surface area of at least 300 mm X 300 mm (11.8” X 11.8”) such as the Sidewinder X1, the Creality CR-10, and many other similar size 3D printer.
They can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and many other types of printable materials.
PETG works very well for this application. It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and last for a long time.
PLA should work as well as long as the parts will not be used, stored or kept at in a high temperature environment, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F).
