3D model description

So i started printing this a while back. I've essentially not soldered prior much to this so i held on to the parts until i had a chance to practice with other things. So i finally got around to figuring this out, slowly i attached one strip at a time, testing along the way until i got all the strips wired up properly. Now came connecting an ESP-8266/NodeMCU, the base of this lamp is very minimalistic so at first, i simply ran the wire out of the base of the lamp into a separate case to house this component and plug into the power source. Then i went to stick the top piece on, i was unable to get the peg to fit in the center core due to all the wiring so i was needing to make some modifications so i decided to make a couple.

At the top, i made the "cap" a bit thicker and more pronounced and then for the base, and then i made a shaft to sit over the core and lights. i still never glued this in place, it fits pretty well and doesn't need it necessarily. I also wanted to make sure i could fit my ESP-8266 inside and have room for my wires so i didnt have to make them extremely short. First i extended the z axis of the base, i then built a mount for the chip. (I have incorporated this into some other designs and remixes: ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5206313 or https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5197434 ). I then cut out the horizontal portion of this mount as it makes wiring, although very doable, quite difficult. I had to print this new base a total of 4 times, making adjustments along the way until i got it just how i wanted it and holes in the right places with enough room (for usb cables to plug in properly for instance).

The next piece to this, was i wanted to add a button. This thing, was my first venture into ESP-8266, and i actually used Surrbradl08's resources to buy my components for the first time. Now if you follow the instructions on the original Twist Lamp, it goes through and shows you how to program the chip and wire up the LED's. I eventually found that without making any code changes, you can simply wire up a switch by using any ground pin, and then the D3 pin. I tested it out on my breadboard and i was ready. The hole for the shaft of the momentary push button is 7mm so you don't have to use the same one as me, or you could always drill it out a bit larger if you need. I used the M3x6 screws to secure the NodeMCU to the base, you could probably carefully drill out the holes and thread the same screws you use for the rest of the light as well.
