3D model description

From the mind behind a myriad of projects he never got around to finishing comesā€¦

FroGolF!
A tabletop game for 1 to Infinity-1 players ages 6 to 98Ā½!

Do you have a 3D printer, some empty table space, a roll of packing tape and at least one index finger? Well assuming you said yes to all that, I have a game for you! FroGolF is a round-based game of trying to claim the prime spot on the best (read: only) lilypad around!

How does one play FroGolF? Iā€™m glad you asked, Phantom Voice in my Head! The process is simple:

Download the STL files and print them out! You are going to need to print:

  • 1 x Lilypad Cap, the prime piece of real estate that all the frogs want control of. Looks best if you print it in green filament, but you do you!

  • 1 x Pond, a vaguely octagonal expanse of water that the froggies are trying to hop over. I suggest a blue filament to stick with the water theme, though Iā€™m sure clear would also work. Avoid using brown, or you may have to explain a few things to the EPA.

  • 4 x Ramps or Ramps with Logos. They can be in any combination you want - you want all Logos? I bet youā€™re a NASCAR fan. No logos at all? Go for it, Iā€™ll try not to cry too much about it. (I worked hard on that logo, manā€¦) As long as you have all four quadrants present, the color can be entirely up to you!

  • ?? x Froggys! Every player needs a frog! Every non-player needs a frog! Your cousin Frank that you havenā€™t seen in over a decade could use a frog too. I highly suggest printing each frog in a different filament color so that every player can keep track. After each frog is printed, there is a small piece of support material that needs to be gently pried off - the easiest way is to stick an x-acto knife in the frogā€™s butt and twist. No, seriously. Stop looking at me like that.

Once all the parts are printed, find a smooth flat table space (or some floor space will do in a pinch) and assemble the play field as shown in the pictures: place down the four quadrants, then use the pond-togon[ā„¢] to bind them together, and the lilypad cap on top like that one throw pillow that really bring the whole room together.

Remember that packing tape I mentioned earlier? Use a piece to tape down the base of each of the four ramps. This will not only keep the play field in place, it will also allow the frogs to more easily slide up the ramps without bonking their little froggy noggins (froggins?) on the ramps edge. This is crucial, as the goal is get up those ramps and on to that lilypad!

Now that the battlefie- er, play space is in place, determine a turn order for the players. This can be going by age order, or maybe start with the person with the most change in their pocket and go clockwise around the table (counter-clockwise in Australia). The turn order doesnā€™t matter much as long as it stays consistent from round to round.

For each players turn, they chose where to start the frog from, and then launch them towards the ramp (and ultimately, the lilypad) using the following patent pending procedure:
Place your index finger on the frogā€™s butt. (either hand will do)
Push down.

Let the frog spring out from under your finger. Itā€™s kind of like snapping your fingers, if your thumb was a frog butt. (and if it actually is, you might want to consult a doctor...)
Go around through the rest of the players, each taking their shot at trying to land their frog on the lilypad by shooting them up the ramp. If they happen to knock another playerā€™s frog off the lilypad in the process, well thatā€™s just the hard life of a frog, baby. Kill or be killed. Why else do you think frogs have become known as such vicious apex predators?

At the end of the full round, after everyone has gotten a turn, whoever still has a frog on the lilypad gets a point! Then everyone picks up their frogs and starts again! Play until a certain number of points (3? 5? 42?) and whoever reaches it first wins the grand prize!*

*grand prize not included. Maybe print up a cellphone stand or a 3DBenchy or something. You do have a 3D printer, after all.
Well that's it! You have now opened the door to hours and hours of frog related fun! (or at the very least, hours of frog related printing). Be sure to tell everyone you know about FroGolF! Heck, tell a few people you donā€™t know, just to see the panicked look on their faces. Go forth and get froggy!
