3D model description

Eleni’s Greek Bowl #2 – 9/15/21
Designed by JWizard

Thank you for choosing Eleni's Greek Bowl #2!

This is the same design that we used earlier with Eleni's Greek Vase #2. We also printed the bowls with 2 color combinations. We printed both bowls using Matte Black and Silk Gold and Silver and Silk Red PLAs. These bowls can add some décor to any room. Now the Greek vase and bowl can be used as a decorative set since they both have the same Greek design. The Greek vase is not included in this download. The matching Greek vase is available as a separate download.

The Greek design is a part of JWizard’s Custom Stencil Collection. We will be creating more Greek designs and additional bowls and vases in the future.

The enclosed .stl files are a 180mm x 80mm bowls. You will need to scale this bowl proportionally to meet your needs. You will also need to add the pauses for the filament color changes in your slicer since we assume you have a single extruder to work with. Keep in mind that the bigger the bowl, the thicker and stronger it will be. The bowl can be scaled to meet your needs. In addition, two gcode files has been supplied that are ready to print and include the pauses to change the filament color to create an 18mm by 8mm bowl as illustrated in the photos. One of the bowls has the interior design, the other bowl has no interior design.

The following files are included:

Greek Bowl #2 - no interior design.stl
Greek Bowl #2 - no interior design_0.2mm_PLA_MK3S_22h40m.gcode (includes color changes)
Greek Bowl #2- with interior design
Greek Bowl #2- with interor design - 3_1d1h51m_0.2mm_205C_PLA_CR10V3.gcode (includes color changes)

Materials used to create model in photos:

Overture Matte Black PLA
Eryone Silk Gold PLA
Prusa Silver PLA
Eryone Silk Red PLA

Ideas:

It is best to scale the x and y axes proportionally so the design or shape of the bowl will not be distorted. If you extend the z-axis and create a taller bowl, this can also distort the bowl’s design. Keep this is mind as you consider the height of your bowl.

Most if not all slicing programs allow you to insert the gcodes needed to pause for the filament color changes. We used the prusa slicer since this can be done visually. We also added Gcodes with the Cura slicer as well. It was easier to do the color changes using the prusa slicer program since this can be done visually on your display and you can easily see the color separation locations that you have selected prior to printing out your bowl. If you do not like where you have inserted your color separations, this can be easily adjusted.

Since there is a design on this bowl that you want to accentuate, it would be a good idea to use to colors that work well together. In our photos we used matte black and gold and silver and silk red combinations. You can use any two colors which complement the beauty of the bowl design. Our photos will give you an idea of what you can expect using these complementary colored PLAs. Also using the colors matte black and silk turquoise would create an elegant looking bowl and or vase.

Slice your model using a random seam (this will prevent a visible seam line on one of the sides of the vase)

Print model with the top of the bowl touching the build plate of the slicer. This will bridge the interior of the bowl. (this is the included gcode file). If you turn off bridging, additional supports will be created under the bottom of the bowl.

Print model with the bottom of the bowl touching the build plate of the slicer
