3D model description

Fighting climate change, this is a %100 open-source 3D printable bearing using a first ever new method of making a bearing without a bearing cage. This Fractal Wheel Bearing is one of a long line of innovative products resulting from the emerging science called fractal gear field theory. It is made using fracs, and it is topologically equivalent to a standard roller bearing without a cage, but its motion is uniquely different.

A frac is like a large sphere condensed into a smaller sphere, and this allows the smooth motion of "sphere-on-sphere" by eliminating the bearing cage. For the same reason, it is a 3D printable geometry which can outperform standard bearings in many different ways.

As compared to the planetary fractal gears and bearing ( Download here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/planetary-fractal-gear-and-bearing ) , this fractal wheel bearing is better suited for use as bearing only without gearing. It can also be used as an energy return wheel when the interior fractal gears are printed from elastic material such as pro-flex airless tire filament.

To print, one could do the whole thing at once but supports removal is a nightmare on most machines. I have found that the best way to build this on my FDM is to print the center hub, the 6 fractal gears and outer shell in halves and then glue everything together, and that way supports are not needed. So , for that reason , in the downloadable files there are halves as well as full STL models for each part. The outer shell can be printed whole if you have a large enough bed. The assembly will need either the center hub or the outer rim in fastenable halves for assembly and disassembly, otherwise it will not come apart and remain permanently assembled.

The inventor claims this may be the missing link method for how to build an ancient egyptian pyramid and that it is better than modern bearing designs for the task of heavy lifting.

The fractal gear forms, while complex in their design , actually exist in many different natural forms, so ancient peoples could have molded from cactus plants, corals, sea urchins , electromagnetic field on ferrofluids, etc.
