Open Toys

Have fun hijacking your objects to make fun toys with "Open Toys" of leFabShop.

« Open Toys » project was born in 2013 during a workshop at Domaine de Boisbuchet directed by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. Samuel N. Bernier (Creative Director of leFabShop) had begun to reuse scraps of cork and wood to make toys, thanks to the 3D printer he had brought on site. Six small accessories were then created to transform found objects in car, plane or helicopter.

It was by chance, during the garden harvesting, that came the idea of replacing wood and cork (difficult to drill without tools) by fruits and vegetables.

The project was completed nine months later by Thomas Thibault, a trainee in the team of Samuel at the creative studio leFabShop in Paris. Thibault is the creator of rocket and submarine added to the collection.

Open Toys have been presented to the public for the first time in October, during a workshop at Autodesk Pop Up Gallery in Paris. Children present at the event have passionately hijacked potatoes, eggplant, carrots and cucumbers in space shuttles, in race cars and watercraft. A Mr. Potato Head in the era of digital fabrication.
